Si Oussama est le Requin de la Méditerranée, Belhedi en est le Sous-marin: Le nageur Tunisien Nejib Belhedi sacré Champion du Monde 2011 en eau libre


Le spécialiste Tunisien de la nage en eau libre, mers et océans, a remporté le titre de la meilleure performance mondiale en 2011, à la suite d’un vote effectué on line, récoltant 2341 voix, devançant le nageur Espagnol Selina Moreno Pasagali avec 1898 voix.

 

La participation du nageur tunisien à ce concours on line, a été l’œuvre de l’OPEN WATER SWIMMING qui a pris en considération le projet de Nejib Belhedi qui consistait à parcourir 1400 km  des côtes tunisiennes.

 

Parmi les critères tenus en compte pour ce concours : le courage, la performance, le défi, et le goût de l’aventure.

 

‘’Je suis très content d’avoir remporté ce titre qui me permettra de bénéficier d’une invitation de la part des Nations-Unies et fier de remporter ce titre pour les Tunisiens’’, a déclaré Nejib Belhedi.

‘’ Nejib Belhedi's Swim Across Tunisia Wins 2011 World Open Water Swimming Performance Of The Year

 

Nejib Belhedi's solo stage swim, which began on June 22nd on the island of Djerba, has captured the attention of his native Tunisia.



Similar to other cross-country endurance events, the passion, commitment and logistics behind Nejib's 1400K Swim Across Tunisiaare at a scale nearly unimaginable.



Nejib has inspired many fellow Tunisians of all ages to take up swimming and has inspired others to continue his dream across other countries in the Middle East. As Nejib strokes on towards his goal, others will continue on in the spirit of Oumaacross the Middle East.



His 1400K Swim Across Tunisiawas selected by a poll of individuals from 108 countries as the 2011 World Open Water Swimming Performance of the Year. His performance embodies the spirit of open water swimming, possesses the sense of adventure, tenacity and perseverance that open water swimmers are known for, and positively influenced the world of open water swimming.



And like Nejib, all the WOWSA nomineesand, indeed, all the individuals around the world, who attempt open water swims of their own scale embody the spirit of the sport, possess the requisite sense of adventure, tenacity and perseverance that the sport demands, and positively impact the global community of open water swimming.



The final vote tally is as follows:

2. Selina Moreno Pasagali(Spain) – Marathon Swimming Cancer Survivor - 1,898 votes (15%)
3. Patagonia Extreme Cold Water Challenge(Chile/Argentina) – 1,274 votes (10%)
4. Julie Galloway(Ireland) – Round Jersey - 1,187 votes (10%)
5. Windermere 12-way Warriors(England) – Dozen Times Better - 1,115 votes (9%)
6. Bridging The Cayman Islands(Cayman Islands) – Captivating Channel Challenge - 645 votes (5%)
7. Ray Gandy(USA) – Two Days in the Bay - 523 votes (4%)
8. Rebekah Boscariol(Canada) – Swimming for SickKids - 474 votes (4%)
